When Diesel was sent home to The Other
Railway, he was back among his own kind. These include the posh and uppity Old Stuck Up, the obsessively clean Bowler,
weedy Derek, arrogant Spam Can, and token females, Pip and Emma.
Under the less than bothered eye of The Thin
Git, the Diesels on The Other Railway exist in a poorly run network, which suffers from constant 'financial irregularities'
and never-ending disaster...
Tales From The Other Railway started out
as a written parody series on Sodor Island Forums by Professor Vengeance, based on stories by the Rev W. Awdry, as well as
Christopher Awdry, Britt Allcroft & David Mitton and the numerous post-2002 writing staff. The first audio
special for the series came to being in December of 2007, with a Christmas Special, adapted from one of the stories from the
first series.
A second series of written stories was completed in 2008,
proving very popular with the readership of the forum, with a promise of a third set in Autumn of 2009. A
selection of the best stories will also be published to the Sodor Island Fansite.
However, the audio specials featuring the Tales From
The Other Railway characters will also provide a unique storylines not covered in the textual parody series... such as
the second feature and arguably most popular, Diesel & The Steam Engine!
