In this series, we take you right back to the very beginning and chart the moderate highs and unfathomable ocean-dwelling lows that the railway has seen over the decades.  This is the History of the Other Railway!

Episode One takes us back to the Victorian era and the town of Trouble At T'Mill, where the Lord of the Manor, Lord Lewis Boxington-Shorts has become caught up in the spirit of Railway Mania and decides to build his own railway... chaos ensues.


The story is told by local historians, Dr Richard Head of Barrow University, Professor Dominic Atrix and Women's Institute Activist and Local Historian, Mary Hinge, and is hosted by Davey T. Narrator.

Following the collapse of the Boxington-Shorts estate in Episode 1, the Other Railway feels the full force of Jock Strap's hostile takeover as he and his legendary fists come to restore order, and rule with a crucifix of iron and boots of steel.

In the pursuit of doing God's Work, Jock becomes the world's greatest Anti-Hero, saving gold, time, money and a regiment of British Troops from German forces in World War I, and builds up a life of notoriety immortalised on film and wins a legion of unlikely fans...

Following the untimely death of Jock Strap, the Other Railway was swallowed up as part of an aggressive expansion plan by a mad shouting German with big plans and big ambitions. Join the journey with Lee Van Der Hosen, der Uber Controller, as his former engine - Hansel der Hamburg Engine and Professor Hugh Kleinensinker recant his life and times... and perhaps join us on an adventure to South America to see if we can find the man himself?
