Written, produced
and directed by Britt Allcroft in 2000, Thomas and the Magic Railroad was an attempt to recreate
the magic that she felt the Island of Sodor possessed both in her own mind, and that of the audience for which it was intended.
A major departure from what is considered to be part of the Railway
and TV Series canon, the film suffered at the hands of critics and audiences alike. However, recent new evidence
has been uncovered in light of an original cut of the script from May 19th 1999, a few months before the film went
into production, and much research has gone in to discovering what the film could have been like.
Here, we'll be raising the far more redeeming features of the Magic
Railroad film, and releasing the fruits of our extensive research including interviews with crew members, storyboard
artists and Britt Allcroft herself who has kindly agreed to shed light on questions posed to her about the Magic
Railroad.
