The
rumors about the movie have persisted for years, especially regarding the villain PT Boomer, also sometimes referred to as
‘Pete Boom’. Boomer could be seen in the trailer falling off the viaduct, confronting Burnett Stone in one page
of the movie’s coloring book, and speculated as being the author of the ‘huge explosion’ that caused Thomas
to tumble in the storybook version of the movie published by Random House. It was comparable to a long-lost relative seen
in family photos, but no one you asked knew anything about them.
But since no new information was available, the questions remained unanswered, and the topic
faded away, only to resurface every once in a while.
Until recently.
February 27, 2007 to be exact, and shortly thereafter Ryan, Eric and Jim each had a hardcopy
of the script. Continuing with the lost relative analogy, it was as if we found their personal journal in the
dark corner of a dusty attic!
Once the news broke in the Sodor Island Forums about the script’s discovery
and revelations, you could say that events began moving fast. Really fast!
Thus, we began our journey in rediscovering the Magic
Railroad.
The Journey - A SIF Collective Effort…
It
goes without saying that this journey could be not have been undertaken alone, or only by a few individuals. While it's true
that the authors of this section of the Fansite, during their research, contacted some very fascinating people associated
with the movie, credit must also be given to the collective and sharp memory of the Sodor Island Forums
membership. Your recollections and encouragement were instrumental in taking us all to our destination of discovery!
